At Palmer And Sons we make all of our leather pieces with only our own hands here in Vancouver, Canada.  My son Jack, and myself design, prototype and produce each piece one at a time from start to finish. We construct only a handful of these limited designs each week using traditional methods, heritage materials and vintage tools.  Our aim is to bring you objects that are timeless and peaceful in their principles.  Our English heritage hopefully shows through in our designs.  We hope you enjoy our limited issue leather designs, we feel they speak to a slower, calmer, and more enjoyable mode of life.

Pasta School LESSON #01 Basic Sourdough 2 Hours $80

Join us in our fab loft in the heart of downtown Vancouver, BC and spend 2 hours building enough skill to start making your own Artisan Pasta at home.  You don't need anything, no previous skills, just a burning desire to make your own pasta, we will provide the rest and get you on your way.

We've researched tons and tons of methods, and brought one that is easy to replicate and can be taught in just 2 hours. It's not a ton of labour and ultimately is great fun to do.

It's fun! We will make a fine Egg based Tagliatelle, and a rustic semolina based Spaghetti. I promise you won't be buying dried pasta ever again!  It's even therapeutic! 

What do You Need?

Not much, just a brown paper sandwich bag to take your uncooked pasta home in. Just remember it's food, so super clean hands, tied back hair, or a baseball cap, and please don't show if you are at all ill.  Get ready to soak up a ton of info, though everything is covered in handouts too.

What Will I Get?

A lot of knowledge and confidence in making your own fresh pasta.   Pasta that you have made from scratch to take home and cook. And a taster of two or three pastas we will make and cook during the lesson.

Who Will Teach Me?

I teach all the classes myself.  I have over 12 years in the restaurant industry across the UK, but more importantly I have been making pasta, bread, and great food for the last 12 years, perfecting my skills, methods, and recipes.  I also lecture at a local games and film school (Visual Analytics, and Rapid Prototyping) and so I really love teaching people and building engaging lessons.  

 

Lesson #01 Structure

Hour 1 Understanding what pasta dough is made of, and the two different varieties we will make on the day. Making two pasta doughs. Using a pasta rolling machine. Cooking the pasta to taste. Storage.

 

 

NOTE.. If dates end up with less than 4 students 48 hrs before class then we reserve the right to cancel that class.

Fine Print

  • No-Show.  If you do not show for a class then there will be no refund

  • Cancellation of parties of 3 or more must cancel at least 4 days prior to lesson

  • Cancellation Within 48 hours of lesson: Can rebook with a $20 surcharge

  • Cancellation Prior to 48 Hours before lesson: Can rebook with no charge 

  • Minimum 4 people per class and maximum 14 people per class

  • Supplies and equipment are provided (other than a medium size glass jar)

  • Tax is not included (tax will be calculated on discounted price)
